Where Leaders Meet

2019 Marks the 30th Anniversary of The Environment Virginia Symposium. This symposium is the Commonwealth’s premier environmental conference which brings together environmental professionals throughout Virginia from all sectors: government, non-profits, academia, and industry.  Their joint efforts create better results for our environment for our state and region.

CAPT. RON ERCHUL

FOUNDER, ENVIRONMENT VIRGINIA SYMPOSIUM

Capt. Ron Erchul (U.S. Navy, Ret.), a former Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, began the Environment Virginia Symposium at VMI in 1990.

Capt. Erchul’s vision for the Environment Virginia Symposium was to create an event where environmental professionals from across the State of Virginia could come together for a mutually beneficial exchange of ideas and information to better our environment.

Captain Ron Erchul

PROGRAM ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The symposium is produced each year thanks to the collective endeavor of staff at the VMI Center for Leadership and Ethics and our Conference Planning Committee.  Together, they combine the expertise of event hosting and environmental program planning and development.

VMI’s Center for Leadership and Ethics hosts the Environment Virginia Symposium along with several other national conferences which tackle complex issues of national urgency.  The Center’s offices are located in Marshall Hall, a certified green venue location.
